CMapTools is a system for creating concept maps online. (Source, Explanation of concept maps, Goal of source site.)
CMapTools includes a free client for PCs, Macs, or Linux machines and server software. The server software allows synchronous and asynchronous viewing, annotating, and editing of accessible concept maps. The server software can be run locally at a home institution, or can be used remotely to store and collaborate on concept maps on a public CMap server.
CMapTools has several features that scaffold the construction of meaningful concept maps. (Proposition builder, recorder, presentor, and cocept discussion boards.)
In addition to creating concept maps, the online character of CMaps allows users to organize their knowledge into more complex structures called Knowledge Models. (Explanation of knowledge model, How KMs differ from CMs. Why it might be useful for students. How these KMs might be used with students.)
CMapTools allows users to integrate concept maps into their wikispace wikis. (What do I mean by integration? How does this capability extend the capabilities of wikispaces alone? Why might this be useful?)
